The project for completion of N-S Axis in Bari involves the construction of a single-pylon cable-stayed bridge, with a span of 225 m (112,5x2) and two side viaducts with length of 245 m and 156 m.

The road profile is centered on the axis of the central pylon of the cable-stayed bridge, and fitted with two PVIs in a symmetrical position. Planimetric and altimetric symmetry is thus attained in order to optimize the manufacture and assembly of various structural elements.

The main design concern is the interference with the railway facilities of the RFI Training Center, with the running lines of the Bologna-Otranto and Bari-Taranto RFI lines, and with the new Ferrotramviaria SpA line, an impressive complex of railway facilities occupying a strip of about 400 m.

The only possible position for the pylon of the cable-stayed bridge is between tracks 33 and 34; subsequently two different static configurations were identified, with side spans of 175 m and 112.5 m respectively, placing the side piles in forced positions between tracks 18-19 and 8-9.
