North – South route realizes the strengthening of the link with the A19 Palermo - Catania of the main town in Province of Enna (Nicosia, Leonforte, Assoro) and the realization of the Itinerary Santo Stefano di Camastra - Gela.

Subject of the design is Lot C1, that lies entirely in the Province of Enna.
The new track is 14,400 m long, of which 4,058.40 m are bridges or viaducts, 6,816.80 m are tunnels and only 3,166.80 m are embankments and/or trenches. The 1,936 m long link road between the
Leonforte Nord junction of the new track, and the existing SS 117 is also provided.

The track is filled with numerous works of art, such as 15 amongst viaducts and bridges, and 8 amongst natural and artificial tunnels, plus the Leonforte junction works.
Amongst the works of art, the Gessi 3 viaduct is the most important, with a length of 800 m, while the longest tunnel is Monte la Guardia, with a length of 2,644 m.
