The project for Bio Medical Department in the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Foggia, winner in the relevant International Contest, stands on the architectural principles of an element capable of integrating research and higher educational institutions with healthcare activities provided by Ospedali Riuniti Hospital.

The facility, located near the University Hospital Umberto I, has four individual blocks over 5 levels, housing different scientific areas.

Adopted solutions are centered on a functional organization able to ensure separation and autonomy between teaching and research.

Research activities are organized by departments and provide autonomous research areas, laboratories, special equipment rooms, archives and controlled storage areas.
Areas dedicated to teaching activities include classrooms for 1,125 students, study rooms, faculty rooms, a 300-seat auditorium, a library, and common premises.
