This stretch of Autostrada A3 Salerno - Reggio Calabria is between Km 337 +800 and Km 348 +600 and is comprised between the junctions of Pizzo Calabro and Sant'Onofrio.
The intervention consists in the reconfiguration of the existing track in order for it to be adapted to the category A – extra-urban highway – according to DM 05.11.01.

The design envisages a typical dual carriageway solution, for a total width of the road platform of 25.00 m.
Design speed is between 90 and 140 km/h.

The track originates from the plain of the Angitola and reaches the area of Serre Calabre. A difference in altitude of about 350 m is in place between the junctions of Pizzo Calabro and Sant'Onofrio, thus involving average slopes of about 4%.

The track winds mainly on steep slopes overlooking the narrow plain along the sea. Because of this, on a large part of the stretch the carriageways are staggered so as to adapt to the steepness of the slope.
Viaduct Costiera di Pizzo measures over 1,600 m. Minor viaducts span between 50 m and 200 m in length.
