The new hospital in Fier, for 305 beds, is located in an area that is currently undeveloped, along the road connecting Fier and Vlore, a few kilometers from the Adriatic coast.
The hospital layout consists of:
- 2 service blocks for care activities (operating theater and childbirth, E.R., medical imaging), with 4 and 5 floors respectively
- 3 3-storey wards blocks, connected to the service blocks, that follow the site's contour lines
- a projection, partially embedded in the ground, which houses 320 parking spaces for out-patients
- a volume overlooking the valley, serving as guesthouse and auditorium
The facility also houses a technical plant and a recycling depot, located in an area behind the service blocks, which also houses parking spaces for staff (230 lots) and E.R. (50 lots).
The access system enables a rational separation of paths for external users, in-patients, and healthcare professionals.
The double-corridor layout locates vertical connecting nodes along the center sections, in correspondence with the connections between the various volumes, preserving the landscape views for core activities, such as care-giving and work places.
